Abstract

The next 10 years will see a rapid scale up of manufacturing in the US especially in the clean energy sector, as the world races towards decarbonization, with the electrification of the transport sector and deployment of the renewables.

Manufacturing in the US not only faces the typical challenges of scale up but also needs to be cost competitive and environmentally sustainable. Modern manufacturing is more interdisciplinary today than it had been in the past. Especially the manufacturing of batteries not only require a strong eco-system of innovations in the areas of device physics, materials chemistry, process engineering and metrology etc. but also continuous integration of new cutting-edge technologies like digital manufacturing, advanced simulation techniques, etc.

Manufacturing innovations need to be also targeted to reduce the emissions during large scale production and decarbonize the supply chain. This talk will address some of these challenges in context of battery manufacturing in the US.

Biography:

Anirban Das is currently working as a Senior Director of Industrialization in Gotion Inc. one of the top 3 LFP LIB manufacturer in the world. Prior to joining Gotion,  Anirban worked in companies like Tesla, Apple, Heraeus etc. in various leadership roles in engineering, manufacturing, supplier development. Anirban has been instrumental in scaling up of manufacturing of multiple transformational products which were launched in the last 18 years, in the areas of battery, consumer electronics and advanced materials. Anirban received his Ph.D. in Materials Science from Arizona State University, MS from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and BS from the Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology in Kolkata, India.
